Driving the future of battery production: GIGABAT at IBPC 2025 and satellite event

NEWS

Engaging with global experts and showcasing pioneering battery production technologies

Last week, many GIGABAT partners from CIDETEC Energy Storage, PowerCo, Excelitas Noblelight, Technische Universität Braunschweig and Comau proudly participated in this year’s International Battery Production Conference (IBPC), in Braunschweig, Germany.  This is one of the leading global forums for innovation in battery manufacturing. Many GIGABAT partners were there, representing both their company and the project, engageing with experts from industry, research, and academia and discuss the latest technological advances.  shaping the future of large-scale battery production.

At the conference, discussions centered on cutting-edge developments in electrode coating technologies, with a strong focus on dry coating – an emerging manufacturing method widely viewed as a key enabler for more efficient, sustainable, and scalable battery production. Dry coating’s potential to streamline processes, reduce energy demand, and enable next-generation materials positioned it as one of the most relevant topics at IBPC 2025.

A major highlight of the event was the dedicated presentation of GIGABAT, which aims to optimize next-generation battery production processes within a gigafactory environment. Attendees were offered insight into GIGABAT’s holistic approach to scaling roll-to-roll technologies, production line optimization, and advanced post-drying processes designed for future high-volume cell manufacturing.

In preparation for IBPC, the GIGABAT team produced a series of project videos and scientific posters to showcase progress across multiple work packages. These materials were displayed throughout the conference, contributing to the project’s strong visibility among key stakeholders. The video materials will be made publicly available very soon on GIGABAT channels, don’t miss them!
